It can be daunting to try and search for Adoption grants and loans. The Hernandez family has done some research and this is what they applied for!
Grants and loans:
For this part, we needed to make a lot of time because these applications take some time! But at the same time, we were getting used to all the adoption paperwork, so no biggee. Plus, no one is going to give you money for free if you send them two sentences. Here are the ones we applied for:
Make sure you save all your work for the first application you fill out and be as thorough as possible, so you can use it for the next application. They will want to know everything like your budget for every expense imaginable and will ask questions about your faith and intention and your financial situation. Just be honest. You don’t have to live in a cardboard box to get money. People understand that you must have something to give something to a child. We ended up getting a total of $10,000 in interest–free loans from Lifesong and Oxford. Not too bad for about two whole weekends worth of writing and filling out forms.
Also, I almost forgot…We also created a http://gofundme.com website and made about $700 that way. We could have made more if I had been more active on Facebook, but I am kinda slow on social media. Plus, I was busy working full-time and booking people to stay at our home and making sure the house was more or less presentable for guests.
