Colombia Program Update-and how you can help!

This Summer, you partnered with us in many ways–prayer, donations, your home– in order for us to put on a successful hosting program for the 5 Colombian children that came. THANK YOU! Our heart is burdened for the orphans in Colombia and we know yours is too. Here is an update of all that has happened since hosting and what is in progress with our program. We hope you are encouraged and moved; there are still ways you can support the efforts to find forever families for the many orphans in Colombia!

Erika and Eyner, siblings who were a part of the hosting program this summer, have found a forever family! Erika is 15 and Eyner is 10, the paperwork is in progress for the family to become Mom and Dad. The siblings get to stay together and join a family who will cherish and protect them forever.

The other three children we hosted are still in the search for a forever family. Will you pray with us that they would find one soon? We are currently paying for them to take English classes, we know God will be faithful in providing them a family.

Since August we have had 6 new families express interest in adopting from Colombia! Right now we are working with 5 families who will be traveling to Colombia to pick up their child this December!

Here are their stories:

A family is adopting a 15 year old young man by the name of Jorge; Jorge participated in a hosting program 2 years ago. When he came to the US, he left an imprint on the family and they had been in touch ever since.   After prayerfully considering God’s will the family decided to adopt him Jan. 2015. They have been diligent with their paperwork and should be traveling the first week of November.

Another family leaves from Virginia to Colombia this October, they will be meeting there 10 year old son for the first time. This couple feels strongly that they can provide care, stability and love to a child who desires to call someone Mom and Dad. They are excited to be parents!

Our third family adopted from China about 10 years ago. They came to our agency and learned about the Colombia program. The family has decided to adopt another child, this one from Colombia. The couple, accompanied by their 14 year old daughter from China, will be traveling the middle of November to adopt their 11 year old daughter Ana Maria. They learned about Ana Maria through a picture and information ASC shared with them and now will be her forever family.

Another family, who was not able to host this year, met the children through our hosting events we had this Summer. After meeting them, they decided to complete all the necessary documents in order to be approved to adopt from Colombia. They will be traveling at the end of this month to adopt their 10 year old son!

Our last couple, both Colombian, desire to be parents through adoption and will be traveling at the end of October to pick up their precious baby who is 10 months old. The Dad explained that for the last 10 years Christmas has been very difficult for them. The mom said this Christmas she will not cry. They both share their gratitude for ASC assisting them to make their dreams come true, they will be called Mommy and Daddy this Christmas!

Amazing things are happening and here is a way you can respond!

November is National Adoption Month; November 8th is Orphan Sunday. ASC has an opportunity to partner with Healing Hands of Hope-Colombia Charities and Children First Ministries International for an amazing party and auction to fund-raise for the building of rescue homes, schools, recreation facilities, dining facilities, gardens, and more to rescue the many orphans who are suffering on the streets of Colombia.
