Making the decision to place your child for adoption can surely be one of the hardest decisions you will face in your life. If you are here because you have made a decision to place your child, we want to do everything we can to help you be informed on the process and aid you in any way through this journey. Once you have made the decision to place your child for adoption, it will be crucial that you have a support system to guide you along the way and make sure that you feel as peaceful and informed as possible. Adoption by Shepherd Care (ASC) is an adoption agency near West Palm Beach, Florida, that is here to offer that support and provide you more information on what the process of placement will look like and what to do next. The first step to take when you have made a decision to place your child for adoption is to gather information. Reaching out to an adoption agency and researching is the right step to take. Make sure to take some time and look over the different sections here, which will tell you a bit more about the adoption process and what placement might look like for you. Having the opportunity to look over information and read stories from other birth mothers who have chosen to place their child might help you in your journey. It is completely understandable that simply filling out contact information and speaking to someone directly may be a bit intimidating. This is why it is helpful to read through the information on what support you may receive and also experiences other have had.

After you feel comfortable with the information you have gathered, you can simply fill out the contact form so that one of our licensed adoption professionals can reach out to you or you may reach out to us directly. During your conversation with one of our adoption professionals, he or she will speak with you about the process and let you ask any questions you may have. Our staff is here to support you fully and make sure that you feel comfortable and informed throughout the process. If you make the decision to move forward with placing your child, your caseworker will lead you through what comes next. Much of this will involve making sure that you are taken care of. In congruence with Florida law, your caseworker will go over and help you obtain the medical, financial, housing, and counseling assistance that may be available to you during and for a short time after your pregnancy.

Once you have been given all the information and have worked with your case manager to discuss your needs and comfort level, you will be able to choose a family with which to place your child. Families awaiting a child to adopt create profiles for you to look through as a preliminary way for you to get to know the families a little bit better. Your caseworker can help you look through them, or you can take some time to look yourself. Your caseworker may discuss with you the amount of openness you want in adoption and attempt to help match you with a family willing to agree to that plan. You can also look through the profiles and find out a bit of information such as the occupation of the parents, if there are other siblings in the family, religion, culture, etc. Though you are choosing to place your child, it is completely normal to have hopes and dreams for them. The parent profiles on ASC may give you an idea of the type of family you see yourself placing your child with. You can take time to view some of the waiting families here.

To take the first step in creating an adoption plan for your child, you can reach out to us at any time! We would love to answer any questions you may have and provide you with more information. Our adoption professionals are here to begin the process for you, help you throughout your pregnancy, and help you to choose the right family for your child.
