Post Adoption Services

Post adoption reporting is required in all domestic and most international adoptions, and the purpose is to document the family and child’s adjustment and progress at various intervals after the child is placed with the adoptive family. Families meet with their assigned caseworker either in the family’s home or in the agency office, and the caseworker writes a report which is provided to the agency, state, or country the family adopted from. These reports will also document areas such as the child’s developmental milestones, socialization, attachment, etc.   The number and frequency of visits will be guided by the requirements of the state or country the family adopted from.

While post adoption reporting is usually a requirement, it can also be a benefit for many families. Questions often arise regarding re-adoption, attachment, immigration documents, support services, and many other topics, and we find that meeting with a caseworker for a post adoption visit can serve the dual purposes of fulfilling the requirements and also answering some of your own questions or concerns. Our caseworkers are glad to offer their experience to assist you in your family’s adjustment in any ways possible.

Adoption by Shepherd Care offers post placement and post adoption reporting services to families residing anywhere in the state of Florida. We provide domestic post adoption services and can work with your placing agency to ensure that the post adoption reports meet the requirements of the agency and state from which you adopted.

ASC is a Hague-accredited agency through the Council of Accreditation and the United States Department of State, and as such we are able to provide post adoption services to families who adopted from Hague convention countries and non-Hague countries. Post adoption reports are tailored to meet the requirements of your international agency and the country from which you adopted.
