Home Studies
A home study is a comprehensive written report of your family prepared by a caseworker, and it is often one of the first requirements in any adoption whether domestic or international. The process involves three to four meetings with your caseworker, a visit to your home, and assistance in the compilation of various documents such as medical reports, income verifications, police clearances, references, etc. During the home study process, your motivation for adoption is discussed and education on adoption and raising adopted children is provided. Our families find this to be a helpful time of preparing for their adoption.
Adoption by Shepherd Care offers home study services to families residing anywhere in the state of Florida. We provide domestic home study services and can work with your placing agency to ensure that the home study meets the requirements of the agency and state from which you will be adopting.
ASC is a Hague-accredited agency through the Council of Accreditation and the United States Department of State, and as such we are able to provide international home studies to families adopting from Hague Convention countries and non-Hague countries. International home studies are tailored to meet the requirements of your international agency and the country you are seeking to adopt from.
