Adoption by Shepherd Care is currently accepting applications for a birthmother counselor in our Hollywood office. Applicants should have a bachelors or masters degree in social work, counseling, psychology or related field. Previous adoption experience is not necessary.

The birthmother counselor assists birthparents as they make their adoption plan. Duties include meeting with , counseling them through the adoption process, assistance with getting social services and medical appointments, housing, making a hospital plan, documentation, legal paperwork, consents, and post adoption support.

Applicant must have a professional yet engaging demeanor, and must have the ability to connect and interact with birthparents from various backgrounds, adoptive parents and professionals involved in the adoption process. Applicant must have a heart for ministry be flexible, and have the ability to multi-task, be a problem solver and able to balance the relational aspect of the position as well as the details of documentation. At Adoption by Shepherd Care, we work as a team, so applicants must be a strong team player yet be a self motivated worker. Applicant must be a safe driver. Adoption by Shepherd Care is currently accepting applications for a home study specialist in our Hollywood office. Applicants should have a bachelors or masters degree in social work, counseling, psychology or related field. Previous adoption experience is not necessary.

The social  worker will be responsible for supporting  adoptive families during the adoption process. They will  perform home studies, parent background checks, parent  and child counseling and the post-placement process. To ensure a stable adoptive match, social workers will evaluate the home life and background of potential adoptive families, work with birth families/birth parent counselors to establish their level of involvement and assess the specific needs of the adopted child.
