With many international adoption programs to choose from, it is important to look at the benefits of each country to determine which program would be the right fit for your family.
Applicants to adopt from Colombia should be over 25 years of age and couples must be married for a minimum of one year. Single female applicants are also eligible, and non-Colombian single women must be open to a child seven years of age or older.
Children in Colombia are waiting to be adopted for many reasons. Some are voluntarily released for adoption by their biological parents. Some are removed from their biological families by ICBF due to neglect or abuse. Others are brought into care due to abandonment, and some are removed from their homes due to their parents’ inability to care for them properly. Most children are placed in substitute homes until a forever family is identified.
