The time after a match that falls through seems dark and heavy. Charissa and her family walked through this time and want to share it with you!
Part 4: After the failed match
Waiting after the failed match was extremely difficult! However, the staff at Adoption by Shepherds Care were amazing to us. They understood how difficult of a time this was for us and they showed that. They were so patient with us. I would call to get an update on what was happening with our profile every week or two and they never lost patience with me. They were very gracious with us and continually supported us throughout our time of loss.
We were put back onto the list for another match the day after our match fell through. 4 weeks after our match fell through we were matched with another birth mom, however we both felt uneasy about the match for whatever reason. After praying about it and talking with trusted family members, we decided to say no to that match. Everything within me was broken. How could we be saying no to a match? How can we say no to this baby? To this birth mom? Are we only saying no because the last one fell through and we are scared? It was incredibly difficult to make that choice, but we knew that boy wasn’t going to be our son.
Once again the agency was nothing but gracious to us. They continued to update us and support us until we got the call about our son.
